Foundation Stone laying ceremony for Korbong Model Village

The Foundation Stone laying ceremony for Korbong Model Village was held on 14th May, 2016 at Korbong Kami from 10.00 am located under Champabari Village Committee, Belbari Block, West Tripura District. Sri Radha Charan Debbarma, Hon’ble CEM, TTAADC, Khumulwng laid the Foundation Stone as a Chief Guest. Sri Niranjan Debbarma, Hon’ble MLA, TLA, Sri Sukumar Debbarma, Hon’ble MDC, TTAADC were present as Special Guests. Sri VK Gupta, Asset Manager (Officiating), ONGC Tripura Asset, Sri Manik Lal Das, Chairman, AISC/STEWA, ONGC, Tripura and Er. Sudhan Debbarma, Advisor, TEST were present as Guest of Honour. The program was presided by Smt. Sabitri Debbarma, Chairperson, Champabari Village Committee, Belbari Block. Besides the dignitaries Er. Jiban Debbarma, Secretary TEST, Er. Sajal Debbarma, Secretary, AISC/STEWA and Er. Amulya Jamatia, President TEST were also took part in speech. Er. Debdulal Tripura, Asstt. Secretary, anchored the programme beautifully.

The Korbong Model Village project will be implemented by “Tribal Engineers’ Society, Tripura” and a total financial assistance of Rs. 57,71,835.00 is granted by the ONGC as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The most vital thing that lead to the selection of that village is Korbong community, well-known as a dwindling / diminishing Tribe of Tripura and in whole State only 25 or 30 Korbong families are remaining. The component of the Model Village project comprises of 120 seated Community Centre, Market sheds-4 rooms, Sanitation- 10 units, Drinking water facility by Mark-II, SBDTW, Irrigation facility by SBDTW, internal road connectivity by Brick soling, Health care for one year & education facility and also to ensure income generation to support their livelihood through Fish culture, Duck rearing, Goat rearing, Piggery & Cross Bred Milk cow with calf. The target for completion of the project is one year but the agreement will be valid up to five years. In this ceremony, a Mega Health camp was also organized by “Tribal Engineers’ Society, Tripura” in association with AISC/STEWA, Tripura Asset ONGC and the following specialist and other Doctors have attended:-

  • 1. Dr. Saru Kumar Debbarma, (MEDICINE), AGMC & GBP Hospital,
  • 2. Dr. Binoy Debbarma, (ENT), AGMC & GBP Hospital,
  • 3. Dr. Swapan Debbarma, (DENTAL), AGMC & GBP Hospital
  • 4. Dr. Santa Debbarma, MOIC, Champaknagar PHC,

Besides, three other Doctors from ONGC and one pharmacist with MPW, GDA from Champaknagar Public Health Centre were also present in this Health camp. About 250 patients were treated and distributed adequate free medicine.
